ERNIE BEFFEL is engaged exclusively in intellectual property counseling, primarily involving patent prosecution and analysis of the scope and validity of patents in a variety of settings, including licensing, litigation and strategic planning. The primary technical focus of his practice is in computer-related technology, including electronic commerce, integrated circuit manufacturing, communications, computer systems, software and hardware. He is also experienced in a variety of other technologies, including medical devices and sail making.
In November, 2002, Mr. Beffel was an invited panelist for a presentation to International Fellows of the National Defense University, representing 40 countries, who were visiting Silicon Valley. The panel discussed formation and emergence of technology companies in Silicon Valley. Mr. Beffel addressed patents and intellectual property as catalysts for investment and protection for market entrants.
